A single implant is made up of several materials, placed in a series of steps. The process begins with drilling a small hole into the jawbone, where a surgical-grade titanium post is inserted. This post acts as an anchor for the entire structure once it fuses with the bone through a process called “osseointegration.” Similar to a screw, the post is threaded, and its rough surface makes the fusion process quicker and easier.

After fusion is complete, an abutment is attached to the top of the post. The abutment serves as the connection point for the visible part of the implant — the porcelain crown. Porcelain is an excellent material due to its strength and natural appearance. Single dental implants enable patients to eat and speak with ease.
